STRASBOURG
Strasbourg is a beautiful city to enjoy multicultural history, architecture, food, wine and more. The mix of German and French influences in every aspect of Strasbourg is what makes it so interesting. It looks straight out of a Disney fairytale with pathways between towns passing through vineyards, cobbled roads leading to medieval gothic churches, and a myriad of small shops run by locals.
LOGO DIRECTION
I want it to bring the peaceful and historical aspects of Strasbourg to life. Making sure to showcase the mix of German and French influences. The main thing that screams this to me is the medieval architecture and history, so incorporating that character into the design is important.

SKETCHES
Focusing on the visuals of Strasbourg, the main themes of my sketches were cobblestone and building structures. I later went back and started playing with the concept of using a medieval drop cap as their lettermark.

DRAFTS
I really liked the idea of including cobblestone in my design, so I tried different ways of doing that. The ones with blackletter are working the best because it represents the history of Strasbourg and stands out compared to the others.

FINAL LOGO VARIATIONS
While I felt a lot of the drafts were working, they didn’t encapsulate the fairytale energy that Strasbourg exudes. I moved forward with the drop cap version because it had the romantic and historic style I was going for.

EXPLORATION GUIDE
Staying consistent with the old storybook theme of the logo, I made the exploration guide reminiscent of medieval French and German books. Using a lot of texture and watercolored images to bring it all together.
