LA TOMATINA
A traditional event in Bunol, Spain that happens every year on the third Monday of August. Thousands of people flood the streets to throw tomatoes at each other in a light-hearted and fun manner. This silly tradition is known as the world’s largest food fight.
CAMPAIGN DIRECTION
The design style will be playful with some chaos to get across that this is a friendly event meant to bring together the community. Using color and mixed type with bold personalities will bring the playfulness of this tradition to life.

SKETCHES
For the sketches I continued the playful and chaotic energy from my moodboard by trying layouts where the whole page was filled with type. I also integrated imagery of tomatoes and juices to give the same chaos.

DRAFTS
I gravitated towards the designs where the type was taking up the whole poster. I mainly focused on that cramped layout style while keeping in mind the importance of legibility and hierarchy, especially in an event poster.

FINAL POSTER
The final poster uses three different typefaces that each serve an important purpose. The main one being a custom rounded san serif to empathize the friendliness of the event and visually represent the tomatoes. The secondary one being a curvy serif to ensure necessary information is legible. And last but not least, the custom script font inspired by latin typography.
